Together, we can create positive change. Support our cause and help us make a lasting impact on the community to end homelessness.
At Empress House, our vision is to create a community to end homelessness by creating more affordable housing, increasing supportive services, and addressing mental health is a top priority.
We address homelessness with a holistic approach, comprehensively understanding the issue by considering all contributing factors and implementing multifaceted strategies.
LaShawn brings over two decades of experience in case management and social services, beginning her career in 1998 with the Prince George's County Department of Social Services (PGCDSS). During her tenure at PGCDSS, LaShawn honed her expertise across several key areas, including independent living, foster care, adoption, and reunification services. It was in these roles that she first identified the pressing need for comprehensive support tailored to young mothers. Her subsequent work with various organizations, including her most recent role as the Lead Case Manager at a Maternal Group Home, has allowed her to deepen her commitment to empowering, educating, and embracing young mothers, helping them navigate the critical transition to adulthood with confidence and resilience.
At Empress House, Inc., we are dedicated to helping young single mothers overcome homelessness and build strong foundations for their futures. Our services are designed to provide stability, support, and opportunities for personal growth.
We offer safe, comfortable transitional housing for young mothers and their children. Our homes provide a nurturing environment where residents can focus on healing, rebuilding, and planning for long-term stability.
Our comprehensive wrap-around services address the unique needs of each resident. These include:
Our goal is to equip every mother with the tools she needs to thrive—emotionally, financially, and independently.
Our staff members are more than service providers—they are mentors, advocates, and allies. With empathy and understanding at the heart of all we do, our team works closely with each resident to build trust, set goals, and celebrate progress. Together, we create a positive and encouraging community where young families can grow.
Empress House, Inc. is a nonprofit organization committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness for young single mothers through transitional housing, compassionate support, and comprehensive services that promote long-term stability and independence.
